Free Showers at Taoyuan Airport — No Flight Ticket Required

01Free Shower Facilities at Taoyuan Airport: Accessible Without a Boarding Pass

I always assumed the shower facilities at Taoyuan Airport were strictly for those who’d already passed security. It wasn’t until I looked into it before a trip that I found free public showers outside the restricted area too — and whether or not you have a boarding pass, they’re completely open to use.

02Where Is the Free Shower in Taoyuan Airport’s Non-Restricted Zone?

If you tend to arrive early, or need to freshen up after a long flight, here’s the location breakdown first.

How to get there: take the elevator from the main terminal hall up to Floor 3, find the elevator next to check-in counters 1 or 22, then ride up to the Floor 5 shopping area.

The shower rooms are split between a south side and a north side:

03What Do the Free Shower Facilities at TPE Airport Provide?

Before departure, I called Taoyuan Airport customer service to confirm. The facilities have body wash, shampoo, a vanity area, air conditioning and a trash bin — but no hair dryers, so bring your own if needed.

04My Actual Experience and Video

I used the south-side shower room in June 2024. When I arrived, both stalls’ floors were wet — clear signs of previous use — and the air felt a bit stuffy. I picked the left one: it had both a handheld showerhead and a rain-shower mode, but the toggle seemed broken, so I ended up using the rain shower. The hot water and pressure were reasonably stable, and the space was large enough to wheel in two suitcases and lock the door — the thing I cared about most.

Can transit passengers use these showers?

The showers in this article are outside the restricted zone, so transit passengers who haven’t entered Taiwan can’t access them. However, transit passengers with a valid boarding pass can generally use facilities within the terminal. You may also look into the “Airport Experience Zone” (a free lounge inside the restricted area) with shower rooms and nursing rooms — very family- and business-traveler-friendly. Locations: Terminal 1 departure hall, Floor 4 (next to the EVA Air Lounge), open 24 hours; Terminal 2 departure hall, Floor 4 north side (lounge level), open 06:00–24:00.
